Mahogany Hi-Chest
(inventory # BB-246)

A Turn of the Century Victorian mahogany chest of drawers or Hi-boy or Hi-chest is built to hold a lot of clothing.  This piece is 6 drawers tall instead of the traditional 5 drawers and it is deeper than normal utilizing the bow front of the case.  The original beveled glass oval mirror is framed in a molded frame with a carved shell carving at the crest and held in a highly carved harp that has the bell flower drops and acanthus leaves seen elsewhere on this piece.  The entire face of the drawers is carved with leaves, wreathes, ribbons and again the bell flower drop on the upright.  All  the brass hardware is original to this piece and has been polished to it's original luster.  This is quite a magnificent piece of furniture that should be enjoyed and used as well.
