Solid Oak Lion Table
(inventory # DD-4)
A most unusually engineered banquet table. The top of this
table is solid quartersawn oak and opens from two divisions operating with
two different sets of slides. This method allows shorter runs on
the slides, which takes a lot of the sag and wear out of the table in the
long run. This is a well defined and attractive Lion Based
table with the acanthus leaf and passion flower motifs. The bridesboard
base has a carved mustache cresting the center of the curved frame.
The center leg is actually a double pawfoot with the same crest on the
brace. A deeply molded/stacked table skirt. There were no original
leaves with this table so we manufactured 8 quartersawn oak leaves with
the skirts to match. The table now extends to 11' 6" while it's only
52" across. And it's very solid with all the leaves installed.
We also added a complete set of ball bearing casters under the feet- the
best, strongest ones we could buy.
