Victorian Eagle Chair (inventory # FF-249) Figural Victorian furniture most commonly features Lions. Here is one that features the Eagle. A well detailed head with a top curl and open beak flows into a scallop carved breast that flows along with the wing feathers on each side. The rest of this chair reveals the 1870-80 style decorative treatments of crisp turnings, incised lines and the turned rosettes that cap each of the bolt heads holding the base together. The upholstery fabric is a chenille in an appropriate pattern showing brick reds and moss greens. The back is a tied on pillow that rests on a pair of turned stretchers. There are four brass wheels capping the legs, but it still is a low seat at 15" from the floor. This is likely a Centennial Chair made and designed during the celebration of our nation's 100th birthday in 1876. Size ................ 31"
Tall x 25.5" Wide x 25.5" Deep
