Outstanding Oak "Oak Leaf" Cylinder Desk
(inventory # FF-84)

Original brass pulls reflect the oak leaf and acorn motif on this secretary desk.  The top crown (which is 6.5" tall and is removable) tops the piece with detailed relief carvings of oak leaves and acorns too.  The bookcase above has two full width doors that have a half turned column and fretwork at the tops.  Two shelves inside are adjustable.  The cylinder or barrel roll is a fine grained quartersawn oak in perfect condition.  The writing surface pulls out to give you a generous amount of work space when needed. One key hole cover is missing from the middle drawer.   The interior of the desk has several open pigeon holes and two pencil drawers.  During this desk's history, the owners noted several milestones.  On the bottom of one of the small drawers you can see a notation about the Blizzard of January 4th, 1896 and who was staying in the home at the time in Ipswitch, South Dakota.  The other drawer also has notes by various owners.  This is a very nice desk and one that is very difficult to find of this quality made of oak.  A key is included for the bookcase door.
