"Widdicomb" Vanity and Hichest
(inventory # SM-1 and SM-2)
One of the premier furniture makers from Grand Rapids, the
Widdicomb name has always signified quality and these pieces are no exception.
The clean simple lines of the dresser and vanity are backed up by "solid
mahogany" as noted on the label found in the drawers. If you look
at the detail of the drawer, you might be able to pick out the way they
laminated a 1/4" piece to the bowed face of the drawers to keep their pledge.
The oval beveled mirrors are original silvering in good condition and still
showing their date of manufacture - April, 1904.
